The eagerly awaited Graven Hill Plot Shop will open its doors to the public this Friday (12 May) and visitors to Bicester are invited to join the team for complimentary coffee and cake from midday until 3pm to celebrate its arrival in the town.

The Plot Shop which is based in ‘Pioneer Square’ has been designed to help bring to life the concept of self-building or customising a home at the former MOD site.  Once finalised the development will be the largest of its kind in the UK with up to 1,900 new homes and a million square feet of commercial space.

Karen Curtin, managing director of the Graven Hill Village Development Company said:  “More than 13,000 people built their own home in the UK last year, but it is often seen as something that is only for the wealthy or achievable if you work in construction.  In reality that is not the case, building your own home can be one of the ways that those with a limited budget can actually get a foot on the property ladder.

“We hope that through the opening of the Plot Shop we can dispel the myths that to successfully manage a self-build you need a limitless budget and an iron clad will to persevere.

“And to make building or customising your own home at Graven Hill even more affordable, we are offering a wide range of incentives to those people who make a reservation in May.”

The opening also coincides with the launch of a brand new range of ‘Tailored Finished’ homes,  The shells of the two, three and four bedroomed homes are built on behalf of purchasers, who can then select from a wide range of internal layouts and finishes, samples of which are on display at the Plot Shop.

The Graven Hill team will also be on hand to offer information and advice on the type of plots or properties available, the design features of the site, as well as to offer practical support on issues such as planning permission and financing a self-build.

Miss Curtin added:  “We look forward to welcoming the residents of Bicester and beyond through the Plot Shop doors.  No appointment is necessary,  just come along and see what’s on offer.”
